African Drumming Ireland is approaching its 13th year of entertaining, teaching and providing high-quality workshops at Summer Camps, Festivals, Concerts, Community Centres,  Weddings, family resource centres Birthday Parties and  Educational venues around Ireland

Our workshops are all about…..

  • Having lots of Fun

  • Enhancing community spirit

  • Encouraging family Intergenerational participation – young and old

  • Experiencing and learning something new

  • Opportunities for hands-on participation of a cultural activity, within a group you may have never even met before

Hand drums and percussion are one of the most accessible instruments for recreational music making at festivals and Summer Camps. You don’t need to be an expert or a musician to get involved in and experience the joy of making music together.

How our Workshops will enhance your Festival or Summercamp

People with little or no musical background can participate in group percussion activities. A strong sense of group identity is fostered and a feeling of belonging is created because participants are actively making music together . Remember nobody ever wants to watch a drum circle ! So even the most reluctant member will be engaged.

Drumcircles are Fun for all the family. Children, parents and grandparents share the joy and excitement of making music together.
Drumming will boost your energy. People will leave the workshop happy ,open and upbeat, ready to participate and enjoy whatever else is planned or on offer that day.
Drumcircles are confidence building. Utilising achievable rhythms on the day, guided by our skilfull facilitators, a child, teen or adult will walk away feeling empowered and with an enhanced sense of creativity
Drumming is so much fun and a chance to relax.
Drumming creates a memorable experience that will definitely have people talking about and promoting your event enthusiastically by word of mouth

With our workshops, we are fully mobile and can provide up to 40 drums on the day with a variety of shakers bells, and African xylophones. Participants learn how to create their own rhythm, sing songs and chants, Within five minutes we have people playing the drum, grooving, dancing and clapping to an energetic beat. We can also tutor workshop participants to take part in a basic performance or parade to showcase their skills as part of your festival lineup.

We cater to your requirements and needs on the day and can arrange a timetable to suit.

We have done Festivals from the very early days such as the Dun Laoghaire ‘Festival of World Cultures’ 2006. Terryglass Arts Festival Tipperary 2007, Green Gathering 2008, Bere Island Summer Fest 2008, Roundstone Summer Festival 2009, Feile Lispoil Dingle 2009.
